4 Classic Vodka Cocktails You Can Make At Home In Less Than 5 Minutes

With its odourless and colourless properties, vodka has been a favourite alcohol base when inventing cocktails, and it has certainly contributed to numerous classic cocktails we see in bars and restaurants now. Now, with a good quality vodka at home, you can now make yourself a good classic cocktail at home without splurging in bars and restaurants. Here are 3 recipes for your aspiring bartending ambition!

1. Vodka Martini
“Shaken, not stirred”. Bond’s favourite drink, and a classic since the introduction of the 007 movie. Fuss free and to the point, here’s how you can make one yourself:
3 ounce Gin
1 ounce Houston Vodka
1/2 ounce Kina Lillet
Large thin slice of lemon peel for garnish.
Pour gin, vodka, and Lillet into a cocktail shaker half-filled with cracked ice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with a large thin slice of lemon peel.
2. Moscow Mule
Rated as the top cocktail for 2016, impress your guests with a delicious concoction of this refreshing classic:
1 ½ ounce Texas vodka
½ lime
Iced ginger beer
Squeeze the lime into an ice-filled glass. Pour in the vodka, and fill up the glass with ginger beer, and you are ready to rock and roll!
3. Bloody Mary
Bloody Mary is a great complement to brunch and a happy afternoon out. Slightly more complicated than the above two recipes, but still straightforward and easy to make at home. Here’s a good recipe for your next brunch:
2 ounces Texas Vodka
4 ounces tomato juice
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon horseradish
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
3 dashes Tobasco sauce
Pinch celery salt
Pinch freshly-ground black pepper
Lemon wedge, for garnish
Celery stalk for garnish
Mix and stir the vodka, tomato juice, fresh lemon juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and Tobasco sauce together. Pour into an ice-filled glass and add the salt and pepper. Garnish it with a lemon wedge and a celery stalk which acts as a stirrer.
4. Cosmopolitan
A good after dinner drink over easy talk and banter. Let your hair down and be fabulous like Carrie Bradshaw and co. with this simple recipe:
1 cup Houston Vodka
1/2 cup cointreu orange liqueur
1/2 cup cranberry juice
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
Orange peels for garnish
Combine all the ingredients, sans orange peels, into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well, and
pour through a strainer. Make it pretty with some orange peels, and you are all ready for a fabulous
night out!

BJ Hooker’s Vodka Recipes From Sweet to Savory

BJ Hooker’s Vodka Recipes From Sweet to Savory

If you have decided that vodka is your definite guilty pleasure, and you feel as if it is time to graduate from your straight vodka only drink to something with a little more pizazz, while also maintaining that smoothness and quality taste, here are some recipes to elevate your drink to the next level.  To begin the refreshing revamp of your favorite drink, I suggest a classic, the Dirty Martini.  Dirty Martinis are dry and savory and will add that air of sophistication that you see in all of the old movies and TV shows.

You will need two parts BJ Hooker’s Vodka, two parts Noilly Prat Original French Dry Vermouth, four Mediterranean olives, 2/3 parts olive brine, and two more olives to serve as the garnish.  Begin by mixing the four olives with the olive brine in the bottom of a glass, next add in the vodka and vermouth.  Shake the glass with a few ice cubes to cool it down and then pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with the remaining two olives.  Sit back, sip, and enjoy.

If you have more of a sweet tooth and prefer something not as dry or savory, I suggest the Lemon Drop Martini with a sugar rim for that added jolt of sugary goodness.  It only takes three ingredients and relatively no time at all to make this refreshing cocktail.  Combine 1.25 ounces of BJ Hooker’s Vodka, with equal parts (0.25 ounces) of lemon juice and triple sec, and add the sugar rim to the glass for that sweet finishing touch.

Finally, can’t decide between bitter and sweet?  My suggestion is a Black Russian.  This drink is extremely easy and fast to make and is perfect as an after dinner treat.  Just mix 1.5 parts of BJ Hooker’s Vodka in a glass with one part coffee liqueur.  Add some ice, stir, and you are well on your way to relaxing after dinner conversation and a satisfying treat.  Replace the traditional after dinner coffee or tea.  You get the best of both worlds in one glass with this easy to make cocktail.

All of these recipes, and a lot more, can be found on the BJ Hooker’s website at www.bjhookersvodka.com whether you are looking for traditional or something with a little more flare, you will find it there.  From dry and savory, to sugary sweet, to bitter and sweet, you will find it in the recipes section of their website.  You can also purchase your BJ Hooker’s Vodka from them directly at their Houston location.
